TUESDAY, APRIL 26 - Departure from Winnipeg or home town to Dubrovnik.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27 - Arriving in Dubrovnik, check into our hotel, unpack as we will be here for the next 5 nights. Relax, unwind and get ready for tonight’s welcome dinner. Have a good night sleep.
THURSDAY, APRIL 28 - After breakfast 1/2 day guided sightseeing tour of Dubrovnik, a town monument, encased in its ancient ramparts. A historical treasure chest and a harmonious reflection of the beauty of nature and balmy climate it is set in. Remainder of the day free to explore on your own this “Jewel of the Adriatic”
FRIDAY, APRIL 29 - Hardly one hour from Dubrovnik, we are in Montenegro. The drive provides incomparable natural beauty and an abundance of historical sites. We drive to the mouth of the Bay of Kotor, visiting Budva and Sveti Stefan – town hotel previously visited by Queen of England, Sofia Loren, Sylvester Stalone and many others. Return drive to Dubrovnik will be pleasantly shortened by a ferry ride across the bay. Departure 8-ish – return by 6:30 pm.
SATURDAY, APRIL 30– Drive through the beautiful Peljesac peninsula where some of the best Croatian wines come from. A short boat ride will take us to the island of Korcula – best known as the birthplace of Marco Polo and listed as one of the “50 most beautiful islands in the world“.
SUNDAY, MAY 1 - Leisurely cruise of the Elafiti Islands. Enjoy the sailing, music, delicious grilled fish lunch with unlimited wine. Bring a bathing suit. Fine way to finish the first part of our tour.
MONDAY, MAY 2 – Today, we are off to Bosna and Hercegovina to visit medieval city of Mostar and the Holy shrine of Medjugorije. Experience the beauty of the coastline and the fertile Neretva river valley. We continue along the beautiful Adriatic and enjoy the breathtaking rugged scenery. Overnight is in the old and picturesque town of Trogir.
TUESDAY, MAY3 - After breakfast short sightseeing of Trogir with concentration of palaces, churches, towers, fortress on a small island, in every way deserves it’s nickname “THE STONE BEAUTY”. Short drive will take us to Split. Sightseeing of the city including the UNESCO protected Deoclecian’s palace at the waterfront. There will be time to visit open area market and shops before we return to Trogir for overnight.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 4 - Continuing north along this beautiful coastline to Enchanting Plitvice cascading lakes. 16 turquoise lakes connected by waterfalls! What a beauty! On our drive to/from Plitvice lakes, we will have the pleasure of stopping and tasting local drinks, cheeses etc. In the evening we will arrive at beautiful costal town of Lovran located on the eastern coast of the Istria Peninsula. Hotel Excelsior will be our “home” for the next 7 nights.
THURSDAY, MAY 5 – As our yesterday was full and long, this morning will be free to sleep in and relax. In the afternoon we are visiting Island Krk called “the golden island” since ancient times. We will enjoy wine testing and lunch and have time to sightsee the beautiful island.
FRIDAY, MAY 6 - Full day of sightseeing the beautiful and historic east and west coast of peninsula of Istria. Visit magnificent over 3000 years old city of Pula and its coliseum built in the 1st century AD, Temple of Augustus, The Forum…. and a birthplace of yours truly. As well we will visit the islands of Brijuni visited by most major statesmen and celebrities, as Brijuni was residence of late President Tito of Yugoslavia and is now a “Camp David” of the present Government.
SATURDAY, MAY 7 - Today we are off to Slovenia visiting romantic Lake Bled and the charming Postojna caves. You will be taken by the beauty of nature above and under ground.
SUNDAY, MAY 8 - Free day. Enjoy the coast, explore local flavour.
MONDAY, MAY 9 - Off to the center of Istria visiting town of Groznjan. This charming hill town was saved from oblivion and decay by musicians, painters and other artists. This is home to only 80 inhabitants and over 40 galleries. It is also the international Cultural Center of Juenesses Musicals in Croatia. Ready for lunch? This one you will remember for a long time – in a good way. Typical Istrian farm house specialties and delicious wines including the “Istrian soup”. Back in time to relax and get ready for a light dinner and afterwards a short walk and a good night.
TUESDAY, MAY 10 – Today we will visit the east coast town of Labin and a west coast town of Rovinj. Both very similar and yet very different in their own way. Back in time for our last evening and dinner together.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 11 – Some of us are flying home and some are extending their vacations
